Who is Don’t Furr-get the Cat!

Hi there! My name is Kelly.

I’m the person behind Don’t Furr-get the Cat!

I kinda accidentally fell in to pet sitting with a yeah cool why not?? a few years ago, not expecting to get much from it. After my first pet sitting gig, I realised I was born for this. It was one of those ‘oh der, why didn’t you think of this years ago??’ moments, as old friends and previous work colleagues all started saying the same thing to me – “That is SO you!” And then there’s all the family photos of me as kid with a very dominant theme – soooooo many pictures of me with animals!! I was actually quite surprised, it had been staring me in the face the whole time.

So now that I’ve found my calling, I have set about building an awesome little business and getting myself schooled up on various aspects of dealing with pets, particularly as issues came up in my daily work life. I did some all round training, but have always been a bit of a cat whisperer, so I focused more of my training in that area.

..with one of my celebrity pets, Aromy

With that said, Don’t Furr-get the Cat! Pet Sitting has been built around the concept of your fur-kids are my fur-kids, they’re my family too. Bonds are built and favourites are made.. (just kidding!🤪) Everybody believes they have the most gorgeous fur-kid in the world – and they are right! Each of them are so very sweet, and so very special in their own way – and it is a very special thing to gain the trust and love of an animal so that they still feel relaxed when their family is away, because they know that if mum and dad aren’t home – Fur-Aunty has them sorted.

Growing up, mum always had a managery of animals around – still does! So I grew up with a goat, cats, dogs, birds, ducks, geese and a variety of wild animals dropped in over the years too – much to my surprise!

This little fella came out of the bush beside our house and decided to adopt me. He would wait for me on the corner outside the school gate at 3pm each day. Once word spread that he was my pig – he was respected and left alone. He was my first introduction to how intelligent pigs are, he was exceptionally clever. He would make everyone laugh with how excited – and loud! – he would get to see me. We found him a much better home where he grew to full size in a protected area, free to roam and come to visit people when he felt like it.

This lil birdie (see what I did there 🤪) was a wild bird known as the local Pee Wee. He was known around town for making a lot of noise, but also for regularly visiting the local hospital. He used to get close enough to people, but his favourite place was sitting on my head as I walked around…or on our pedestal fan, squawking loudly as it oscillated.

Behind the Scenes…

The scallywags that live at my place…

First up is Chyna. She’s Lilac Point Ragdoll – and very needy, also cheeky.

Then there’s the kid – Graysi. All round maniac and pain in the head..
